Weddings and wedding suits.

Last weekend we were approached to give a talk on the catwalk of the National Wedding Show on each of its three days on Wedding suits and tailoring. The show was run in conjunction with Caryn Franklin and Jane Galpin of Ten years younger fame!

Wedding shows are normally the realm of the bride and her family and friends with the odd future husband dragging his heels. Its not surprising really when the stands at these events seem to all be aimed for the female market.

However the women and those men that were in the audience were incredibly appreciative for some of the attention being aimed at them. Far too often it seems that the immediate thought for the Groom and his party is to hire the morning and or wedding suits.

The women folk are allowed to spends hours, days or even perhaps weeks hunting for her perfect dress and its is quite acceptable for men to also put the same amount of thought into what they will wear.

As the talk detailed, hiring is not the only option for the wedding suits. With Cad & The Dandy’s suits starting at £299 pounds there is a real alternative to the hiring process. The groom can now select and design his wedding suit, whether that be a lounge suit, morning suit or frock coat and have it tailor made for him in the fabric of his choice.

The personalisation enabled by tailoring allows the Groom to much better fit his suit into the theme of the wedding. The lining and finishing stitching on the inside of the jacket is a great way match to the bridesmaids dresses and or flowers. Ian also showed several suits on stage to this end where the pink lining was selected to match the pink theme of one wedding.

The other suit he showed which caused the biggest stir over the three days was a wedding suit made with a football shirt lining. After his talk had finished and the crowd departed our stand was awash with Brides wanting to order suits with this detailing as a surprise for their future husbands!
